The present handbook starts from a fundamental premise: Everything is communication. This type of communication has a crucial importance for everyone, because it represents the way of the professional and personal development. The English language has reached a planetary expansion nowadays, in the context of globalization, becoming the universal language of communication. In these circumstances, English is used in all fields, regardless of specialization. English, based on the prestige of great cultures and civilizations, but also on its planetary supremacy, has become the language of professional communication in the international cooperation.
The Course English for Professional Communication addresses to the undergraduate and postgraduate students in legal sciences and in related areas of specialization, as international relations, European studies, political and administrative sciences. The six units in its structure contain topics related to the English legal system. Basic aspects regarding leading principles, fundamental concepts and institutions are approached in this challenging framework. The topics are developed in complex structures which contain vocabulary information and rich sets of exercises, covering a wide range of diversity. This comprehensive approach, on the legal issues support, aims at developing the students’ English communication skills and competencies at academic level.
Against this background, the texts, from the broad thematic range of the legal area, shape a complex work support for the development of the professional English communication skills to undergraduate and postgraduate students. These skills, at high standards of communication, are crucial to the progress of BA, MA and PhD students in academic education, scientific research and professional development.
